Photography and Image Policy

A complete record of the real, third-party licensed photography used by Streetfold, including creators, source files, licenses and disclosed edits.

Streetfold's first issue uses real photography sourced through Wikimedia Commons. These images were made by the credited photographers, not by Streetfold, and we do not present them as original or first-hand reporting. The retrieval date records when each local asset and its source ledger were first added to this publication.

What the photographs establish

The photographs show real places and street scenes, but they are not proof of current operating conditions. A photograph cannot confirm that a route is step-free today, a station lift is working, a fare is unchanged or a street remains uncrowded. Time-sensitive claims in our guides must still be checked against current primary sources.

How we use licensed work

Each image is served from local WebP and responsive AVIF derivatives made for this site. Streetfold cropped, resized and converted the source image; those changes are recorded below. Copyright remains with the photographer or licensor. Where a share-alike license applies, the derivative remains available under the listed license. We provide attribution even for the CC0 image so readers can trace its provenance.

Performance and accessibility

Local responsive derivatives reduce transfer size and avoid dependence on third-party image servers. Browser-selected AVIF sizes, explicit image dimensions, descriptive alternative text and lazy loading below the fold reduce unnecessary work without changing the credited source.
